Preparing Students for Career Success
East Tennessee State University’s College of Business and Technology is leading the way in ensuring that students are prepared for success in the workforce. The college has taken a proactive approach to helping students succeed by creating a Director of First Year Experience (FYE) position and a series of Career Readiness courses.
The Director of First Year Experience, Jillian Alexander, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role. Her focus is on ensuring that students have the resources they need to succeed in their first year of college and beyond. With her guidance, students can develop a strong foundation in academic and professional skills, and achieve their goals.
In her new role, Jillian will oversee the coordination of FYE courses, opportunities for first year students outside of the classroom, and manage the new career readiness courses.
The Career Readiness courses offered by the College of Business and Technology are designed to help students develop the skills and experience necessary to excel in the competitive world of work. These courses can be taken by any major within the college, are one credit hour, and have no prerequisites.
There are a total of four courses. Each course is structured to provide theoretical and practical learning, with a focus on individualized guidance and practical application. The course offerings are:
