Computer Access and Use
- Current ETSU students, faculty, faculty emeriti, staff, and Library Guest cardholders may use library lab computers.
- All users must log in with their ETSU username and password. Visit ETSU password security for help with (re)setting your password.
- There are no enforced time limits on computer use.
- By logging in you agree to comply with the ETSU Information Technology Services Code of Ethics. Library computers are ETSU property. Individuals found engaging in unlawful activities will be asked to leave the library.
Printing / Copying
A printer / copier is available in the basement. Students can print and make copies from this machine after logging in.
Funds are deducted from the allocated amount provided at the beginning of each semester.
When these funds run out, students can optionally add funds for this purpose by visiting ID services (Culp Center) or online through the ID Services website.
The printer support mobile printing from personal laptops.
Note: printing double sided in color is only accessible through ETSU computers (not through
mobile printing).
Knowledge Imaging Center (KIC) Scanner
The Medical Library also has a Knowledge Imaging Center (KIC) scanner. The scanner is located in the first floor lobby. This is a "no funds required" scanner available for general, public use. The overhead scanner is great for scanning large or fragile books, tightly bound journals, and historical materials. It can handle virtually any size book, magazine, journal, newspaper, photo or other material from postage stamp size up to 11 x 17 inches in black and white, grayscale, or full color. You can scan and save files to a USB drive (recommended for multiple, color pages) or email the scanned to yourself.
This scanner should also be more accessible than traditional models as: the scanner
bed height and the equipment set-up are accessible from a wheelchair; there is reduced
physical handling of heavy books due to the face-up scanner bed (no lifting needed
to turn pages); it has options to create more accessible file types, such as using
OCR and audio output.
More information about the features of the scanner is available at the following link
- http://www.dlsg.net/kic-bookeye4.html - and library staff are available to aid with use. Funds for this scanner were provided
through an ETSU Technology Access Fee grant.
