Dr. Cody Chessor serves as Adjunct Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at East Tennessee State University and Elon University. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Appalachian State University, a Master of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
An active performer throughout North Carolina and Tennessee, Dr. Chessor is a passionate advocate for expanding the tuba and euphonium repertoire through commissioning and premiering new works. Recent highlights include presenting the North Carolina premiere of JaKobe Henry’s jazz trio, Why Not!? for tuba, piano, and drum set.
In the studio, Dr. Chessor guides students in discovering their individual artistic voice by cultivating an unshakable foundation in fundamentals and expressive phrasing. His teaching emphasizes musical curiosity, technical precision, and the development of a mature, personal sound.
