To nominate a student, send a letter of recommendation detailing their activism work to wgss@etsu.edu. We also accept self-nominations - please include a letter of nomination from a professional reference. Nominations accepted until March 20th, 2024!

Undergraduate Student Feminist Activist Award

The ETSU Feminist Activist Award is an annual award that recognizes and celebrates the work of an undergraduate student who is actively engaged in the practical, grassroots, community-building and people-affirming work of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. The ETSU Feminist Activist is an individual whose academic work includes community engagement and whose community engagement is informed by feminist theory/academic pursuits. The ETSU Feminist Activist is an individual who contributes to the ETSU campus or community and whose contributions influence, inspire, and contribute to people's lives in positive and productive ways. The ETSU Feminist Activist is an individual who has taken a leadership role in promoting social justice and advocating for people on campus or in the community. The ETSU Feminist Activist is an individual who, in a word, persists.

Graduate Student Feminist Activist Award

The ETSU Feminist Activist Award is an annual award that recognizes and celebrates the work of a graduate student who is actively engaged in the practical, grassroots, community-building and people-affirming work of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Like the undergraduate award, graduate Feminist Activist is an individual whose academic work includes community engagement and whose community engagement is informed by feminist theory, who contributes to the life of campus or community and whose contributions influence, sinpire, and contribute to changing the conditions of people's lives in positive and productive ways. The ETSU Feminist Activist champions social justice and advocates in concrete ways for equity and inclusion on campus or in the community.
