staff, students and a wide range of regional, national and global partners to conduct
research to identify the causes of, and practical solutions to, the most important
health challenges facing people living in rural Appalachia and other underserved regions.

Addiction Science Center (formerly Center for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment)
The mission of the ETSU Addiction Science Center is to partner with affected communities in Central Appalachia to advance the science of substance abuse prevention and treatment.
Center for Applied Research & Evaluation in Women’s Health (CARE Women's Health)
CARE Women's Health is an interdisciplinary center aimed at advancing women's health in the US South and beyond through applied, population-based research that informs policy and practice and promotes health equity.
Center for Cardiovascular Risk Research
The Center for Cardiovascular Risk Research (CCRR), a cross-disciplinary collaboration, will mitigate cardiovascular diseases burden, alleviate health disparities, and address health inequities among the rural, socioeconomically disadvantaged population of Central Appalachia by providing multidisciplinary research, health promotion and education, policy analysis, and risk management.
Center for Rural Health Research
The Center for Rural Health Research is funded by the state of Tennessee and Ballad Health. Located in the heart of Appalachia, the Center fulfills its mission by engaging rural communities to advance health and improve quality of life through innovative solutions that contribute to the expanding evidence base of what works in rural America. The Center works to honor and preserve its rich Appalachian heritage and Tennessee ties through distinctive research, community engagement, training and policy.
ETSU/NORC Rural Health Equity Research Center
The ETSU/NORC Rural Health Equity Research Center is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. The Center’s mission is to develop strategies and recommendations for policy makers, rural healthcare providers and rural communities to mitigate the individual and community-level impacts of substance use disorder (SUD), improve access to healthcare and social services, and improve population health.
Tennessee Public Health Training Center
TNPHTC's mission is to provide a home for the collaborative partnership between Tennessee’s academic public health training providers and the Tennessee’s public health workforce, and to provide comprehensive, competency-based training for that workforce.
Tennessee Institute of Public Health
The Institute is a partnership of public and private health agencies, organizations, and academic institutions established to maximize resources for the purpose of promoting health research, education, and service focused on improving the health of all Tennesseans.

Environmental Health Sciences Lab
The Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory (EHSL) was established to conduct research in the fields of environmental microbiology, environmental chemistry and environmental toxicology.
The College of Public Health has mindfully created programs and sought opportunities for partnerships to focus on the study, research, and practice of global health.
Composed of a multidisciplinary team of public health professionals, the research program integrates causal and intervention-based approaches to reduce tobacco use and tobacco-attributable diseases at the domestic and international levels.

Project EARTH at the ETSU Eastman Valleybrook Campus
EARTH stands for Employing Available Resources to Transform Health, and is designed to assure that student learn a certain set of basic skills, apply those skills in a real-world setting, and work together to create new skills and tools.
