Important Announcement Regarding Entering an Absence
Posted 12/18/2025. During the most recent quarterly Voyager system update, it was identified that the “Save” option returned to the screen when entering an absence. The Save option had previously been removed due to the confusion it caused. While we work to address this change, please note that selecting “Save” does not submit the absence for approval. If an absence is not submitted, it will not be routed through the approval workflow. For Non-Exempt employees, an absence that has not been approved will not be paid.
ACTION ITEM
As we wait for the "Save” button to be removed, we are requesting Non-Exempt employees to please take a moment to review any absences and confirm the absence has been submitted and is not remaining in the system as saved. From within Voyager, the following steps will direct you to reviewing any absences:
Me > Time and Absences > Existing Absences > Click on the Absence Type Hyperlink > Click SUBMITOnce it has been submitted, it will be shown as Awaiting Approval. Supervisors need to verify that they have approved their employees’ absences to avoid any issues with payment.
We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and the Office of Human Resources is available for assistance as needed: hr@etsu.edu.

With the announcement that we will be closed 12/22 and 12/23, Biweekly/Non-Exempt Employees must submit their timecards and absences by 10:00 am Thursday, December 18th, with supervisor approval due no later than 12:00 pm Thursday, December 18th.
For all employees (exempt and non-exempt): If you have already submitted Annual Leave for 12/22 and/or 12/23, you will need to withdraw those Absences and resubmit as Administrative Leave.

Failure to finalize these changes by this date may result in delayed payment or non-payment on January 2nd.
a COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
We appreciate the significant efforts of the Voyager Task Force in helping the university gather concerns and prioritize needs. We have also carefully reviewed the stakeholder survey distributed by the Task Force. In response, representatives from Human Resources, Finance, ITS, Huron Managed Services, and the Voyager Task Force collaborated to consolidate feedback into a centralized list of issues that is now guiding our work.
Based on this collective effort, we can report that many concerns have been fully resolved, and the remaining items are actively being addressed and are on track.
